Owerri woman, 55, has twins with no pregnancy history; police says its no miracle
Chinyere Ohanyere has hit menopause. But she’s a mother of twins she gave birth to September 3.
The 55 year-old believe in miracles, no doubt.
It puzzled her neighbours at Graceland, Owerri, in Imo, who never saw Chichi pregnant. That she was nursing two tiny patters all of a sudden would just have been a miracle—had they believed it.
But the police has an explanation—as offered by her—and science.
Chichi had insisted she carried the babies in her old womb for nine months. Medical tests, however, revealed she was never pregnant. And she couldn’t controvert it.
The truth was she bought the kids—a boy and a girl—after faking pregnancy, and delivery at a hospital in Irete, Imo West.
According to a source who soke to the Daily Post, Chich and her sister Adaeze perfected the plan, and acquired the baby form a seller now on the run.
The plan jelled out well, really. The babies were hers, and she was already settling down to dry nursing when the bubble bust.
Police got a tip-off and moved in on Chichi’s house to arrest the two.
According to the state command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Michael Abattam, the case has been referred to the Magistrate Court of Imo State where the accused is standing trial for alleged child trafficking.
