The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, under the umbrella of PDP Governors’ Forum, and members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) have intervened to save the party from extinction after the resignation of seven national officers on Tuesday who also passed vote-of-no-confidence on the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, as well as the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Secondus.
The PDP governors acknowledged the rumblings in the Party, therefore, calling on all party members and all stakeholders to remain calm in the face of the emerging conflicts.
The PDP governors further appealed to all aggrieved party members and stakeholders with the interest of the PDP at heart, to keep their gun powder dry, assuring that efforts are being made in consultation with the PDP Board of Trustees members and other stakeholders to resolve all conflicting issues in the party.
The PDP Governors’ Forum declared that the an emergency meeting has been scheduled to deliberate on the affairs of the Party and the way forward.
The governors noted that “the PDP, as the only remaining hope of the nation for good governance, must show an example to Nigerians and also take advantage of the current disarray in the APC and its rudderless government.”
Seven national deputy officers of the PDP had on Tuesday resigned from the NWC citing leadership failure of the national chairman of the party for their resignation.
