Plateau: 33 suspects arrested as IGP deploys chopper, CTU, mobile units to Jos
As efforts at restoring public order in Rukuba and its environs continue, IGP Usman Baba has deployed a surveillance chopper, two units of the mobile police, and two counter terrorism units in the area.
According to a release by PPRO Frank Mba, the surveillance helicopter, manned by operatives of Nigeria Police Airwing, is expected to carry out aerial surveillance and confidence-boosting patrols within the hotspots.
The ground troops are also combing the area.
The IGP noted that 13 additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, bringing the total number of arrested persons to thirty-three.
The Head of the Police Intervention Team (PIT), DIG Sanusi N. Lemu is already on ground in Plateau, coordinating Police investigative, operational and peace-building response.
No fewer than 20 members of an Islamic group coming from Bauchi were ambushed around Rukuba in Jos on Saturday.
