Police arraign mechanic over alleged N1.5m car fraud
The police, on Thursday, arraigned a 22-year-old mechanic, Waris Tijani, over alleged N1.5 million car fraud.
Tijani, of no fixed address, was charged with obtaining money under false pretences and stealing before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the car fraud accusation.
The prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 15, at about 4.00p.m, at Moniya area of Ibadan.

Balogun said the defendant collected the sum of N1, 514, 000 from the complainant, Mr Jamiu Lawal, on the pretence of buying and fixing a new gear for his Toyota Corolla car.
He said that the defendant who failed to buy the new gear, converted the money to his personal use.
Balogun said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Nov. 18, for hearing.
