Police arrest Naira Marley over death of Mohbad

Music star, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities over the death of his former signee, Mohabd.

This was confirmed by Lagos State Police Command PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin via his X handle.

He wrote, “Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities…#justice4Mohbad #justiceforMohbad.”

Earlier, the Marlian Music boss announced via his verified X handle on Tuesday night that he had returned to Nigeria.

He wrote, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

Naira Marley has debunked allegations that he has a hand in the death of Mohbad, stressing that despite their fallout in 2022, “no harm was wished on him.”

Following Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, there have been allegations of assault involving Naira Marley and his crew.

In a series of posts dated October 6, 2022, Mohbad recounted a confrontation with Naira Marley and his manager, Tunde, which escalated into violence and led to injuries sustained by Mohbad and his companions.

The Lagos State Police Command, in response to public concerns, inaugurated a 13-member special investigation panel to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa also indicated that they would engage INTERPOL in their inquiry to ensure all those involved in the case are identified and brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Mohbad’s mother has voiced her belief that her son may have been deliberately killed. This ongoing investigation has raised questions and concerns within the Nigerian music industry, as fans and stakeholders anxiously await further developments in the case.
