Police declare 1 person, 7 cows dead in auto crash in Jigawa, 10 injured cows slaughtered
The Police in Jigawa State had on Wednesday declared one person and seven cows dead in an auto crash in Gagarawa Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, in a statement narrated, “On Tuesday, at about 2:30 p.m., there was a fatal motor vehicle accident at Bosuwa junction in Gagarawa LGA involving a trailer with number plate Yobe FUN 351 XA, loaded with about 38 cows driven by one Abdullahi. aged 27, of Potiskum, Yobe.
“On reaching Bosuwa junction, the driver lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road and collided with a stationary red Sharon vehicle with number plate NNR 394 XA, parked at the shoulder of the road.”
The PPRO said that a police team evacuated the victims who sustained varying degree of injuries to hospital.
He added that one of the victims was confirmed dead at Gumel General Hospital, while nine others were admitted at Gagarawa Primary Healthcare Centre.
He affirmed that while seven cows died on the spot, 10 critically injured cows were slaughtered, thereafter.
