Police nab 2 terrorists, prevent kidnap of resident in Arawa, Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command on Friday disclosed the arrest of two suspected terrorists who were overwhelmed during a kidnapping operation in Katsina.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in Katsina, Assistant Abubakar-Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement identified the names the arrested terrorists as Sa’idu Sule, 20 years; and Sani Beti, 26 year. The PPRO narrated that they were arrested after “the Police received a report that terrorists, armed with AK 47 rifles, were shooting sporadically at the residence of one Mu’azu of Arawa village of Dandume Local Government Area, in an attempt to kidnap him.”
Aliyu narrated: “Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Dandume divisional headquarters responded, where they engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce gun duel.
“During the engagement, the police successfully foiled the kidnapping attempt and rescued and in the course of scanning the scene, two suspects were arrested, and an Ak-47 rifle was recovered from them.”
The PPRO further said that the police, on June 3, on receiving a distress call that terrorists armed with AK-47 rifles, blocked the Kankara-Sheme road and kidnapped 4 persons, dispatched a team of operatives to the scene, who engaged the gunmen in battle and successfully repelled their attack.
he said that one AK-47 rifle with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered, and the abducted persons were rescued unharmed, while the gunmen were arrested.
