Prof. Jega urges youths, women to be agents of peace in 2023 elections
The former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, leader of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), commissioning the PRP Youth and Women Wing office in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on Sunday, urged women and youths to be agents of peace to ensure rancor-free 2023 general elections.
Jega said that the call became imperative in view of the critical role played by youth and women in the democratic processes.
The former INEC chairman enjoined youths and women to always put the interest of the state and the nation in their minds while taking decisions toward the forthcoming general elections.
Jega encouraged them to stand on their feet and refuse to be used by selfish politicians to cause confusion before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
While thanking the youth and women for their efforts in rescuing the state and nation at large, Jega urged members of the party to redouble efforts toward the success of the party for the benefit of the state and the country at large.
The PRP governorship candidate in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Udu-Idrism had earlier promised that if elected, he would introduce an open-door government policy, transparency and accountability.
He promised to prioritise provision of infrastructure and ensure creation of job opportunities for women and youth across the state.
The Chairperson of Women and Youth Wing of the PRP in Kebbi State, Hajiya Hajara Mai-Kurata, said the essence of the office is to ensure total support for the party to pave way for its success at the polls come 2023.
She assured that the office would be put to good use to not only stand the test of time but also to ensure that its desired goals and objectives were achieved.
