Reno Omokri reacts after Tinubu says he brought Econet to Nigeria
Reno Omokri who is a popular Nigerian Public Commentator and Human Rights Activist has reacted after the former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu says he was the one who brought Econet, a communication network to Nigeria.
Omokri who took to his social media page to react disagreed with him over the matter. He gave the credit behind the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) in Nigeria to the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
He said the introduction of GSM, the licensing, and the insisting that Nigerians must be part owners in foreign telecoms were all done by Olusegun Obasanjo and then wondered why Tinubu claimed he brought Econet to Nigeria.
His post read in full, “Obasanjo introduced the GSM revolution. Obasanjo gave out GSM licenses. Obasanjo insisted that Nigerians must be part owners of foreign telecoms. Yet, Bola Tinubu now claims that he brought Econet to Nigeria?…”
