Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Sunday withdrew from the ThePlatform debate for governorship candidates in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu, governorship candidate candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), seeking re-election for a second tenure, withdrew from the debate on Sunday on the excuse that he did not want to share the stage with a governorship candidate, whose supporters were alleged to be shooting at supporters of another party in Surulere.
According to the moderator of the debate, Victor Oladokun, “On account of this incident, which has already gone viral, Governor Sanwo-Olu, through his spokesman, announced yesterday (Saturday) that the governor will be pulling out of the debate because he won’t want to share the stage with a particular candidate whose supporters allegedly carried out the attack.”
Meanwhile, the governorship candidates of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; the Peoepls Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran; the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olufunso Doherty, etc, participated in the debate, unfolding their manifestos to residents of the state.
