SECONDUS: Wike rejects peace offering as ward seals fate of PDP national chairman
The David Mark-led panel by now should understand whom they have on their hand to deal—Rivers Gov Nyesom Wike who is never bereft of intrigue.
Here’s his latest, and it is going to make the crisis messier, from the ward level—up to the national level where a conciliatory panel is trying to offer Wike peace offering
The PDP Ward 5 in Ikuru town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, has suspended the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus.
Secondus comes from that ward.
Ward Chairman George Christopher announced this at the party’s extraordinary meeting at the party’s Secretariat at Ikuru town, Andoni Local Government Area.
According to him, 11 of the 17 excos endorsed Secondus suspension from the party.
“Suspension of Prince Uche Secondus was done by the Ward executive after a duly constituted Ward meeting called by the Secretary on the instructions of the Chairman, according to the Constitution of our great party,” the Punch quoted him as saying.
The chairman of the disciplinary committee in the ward, Benson Alpheus, also said Secondus was suspended for disobeying the party’s decision for him to step down as national chairman.
“Until further notice, our brother, Prince Uche Secondus remains suspended. I want to thank you for coming and again, reaffirm the suspension of Uche Secondus.
“For now, until you hear from us again, Prince Uche Secondus remain suspended,” he added.
Wike and his kinsman Secondus have been indicted for creating party crisis that has not only embarrassed the PDP, but has also exposed Nigeria’s judiciary as compromised.
The two have obtained up to three ex parte orders so far, all in the effort to suspend and reinstate the chairman who has fallen out favor with his state governor, though Secondus carries baggage of corruption and ham-fistedness.
But no power structure in the party has been able to call Wike to order as he swings his clout.
