Six men jailed two years for assaulting KAI officers in Lagos
By Anuoluwa Amao
A magistrate court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, has sentenced six men to two years’ imprisonment each for attacking officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), during an operation in Alakija, Amuwo Odofin.
The convicts, identified as Ghadafi Ismail, Balarabe Mustapha, Usman Danladi, Abdullahi Bello, Kamala Garuba and Musa Idris, were arrested on October 10, 2026, and arraigned days later.
They pleaded guilty to the charges and were convicted and sentenced on the same day.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the development on Thursday, warning that attacks on public officers performing their lawful duties would attract legal consequences.
He said the state government remained committed to maintaining law and order, protecting public officers and enforcing environmental regulations across Lagos.
KAI, formally known as the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, is responsible for enforcing environmental sanitation laws across the state.
