Sokoto Supplementary Poll: APC’s Aliyu puts incumbent Tambuwal on edge
Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal is walking a knife edge in his bid for re-election as his closest rival in the guber race is narrowing the gap between them in the Saturday supplementary election.
With one local government left, and PDP’s Tambuwal leading the APC candidate Ahmed Aliyu with just 2057 votes, many believe the incumbent’s chances are threatened.
After results from 18 LGAs of the 22 where supplementary election held Saturday were collated, Tambuwal was leading Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress with 3,574.
As more results came in, with one left as of Sunday morning, the gap between Mr Tambuwal and Mr Aliyu has now narrowed to 2,057 votes.
The last LGA Kebbe has at least 20,000 registered voters.
Ms Mukhtar, professor and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, asked that the collation exercise should close and then reopen at 9 a.m.
