Teenager in court over alleged house breaking, theft
A 19-year-old Oladimeji Kehinde, was on Thursday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged house breaking and stealing.
Kehinde, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of house breaking and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on Oct.5 at Odo-Oro Ekiti in Ikole- Ekiti Local Government Area.
Adeniyi alleged that the defendant and others at large broke into the house of Mr Taiwo Temitope and stole one iPhone XR valued N185,000, school bag valued N8,000, cloths valued N85,000 and some documents.
Other items stolen; cash sum of N50,000 and Wifi valued N10,000 total valued N338,000 belonging to the complainant.
He said the offence contravened Section 344 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Emmanuel Sumonu, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Kay-Williams, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Dec.28 for hearing.
