Tottenham agrees deal’ for Serie A star
Tottenham Hotspur have ‘agreed a deal’ Genoa centre-back Koray Gunter, according to reports in Italy and Turkey.
The 24-year-old defender joined the Serie A side on a free transfer in the summer after being released by Galatasary and has impressed in four starts and three substitute appearances this campaign.
Already Gunter is generating interest from Serie A clubs with AC Milan considering him as cover for Mattia Caldara but Spurs are set to rival them as they look for additional defensive stars, according to CalcioMercato.
The future of Toby Alderweireld remains uncertain and while manager Mauricio Pochettino appears to have faith in Davinson Sanchez and Argentinian starlet Juan Foyth, he may want to make an additional signing if the Belgian leaves.
Spurs have struck a deal in principle for a fee worth £15million.
Gunter was on the books at Borussia Dortmund as a youngster and made one appearance for the first-team before leaving for Turkey in 2014.
