Tottenham midfielder Bentancur charged over racist remark
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been charged by the Football Association (FA) over a racist remark made about his team-mate, Son Heung-min.
The Uruguayan international was asked in June on a Uruguayan TV show to provide a Spurs player’s shirt.
In response, he made a derogatory comment about Son’s appearance, suggesting that his teammates were difficult to distinguish from one another.
The comment sparked outrage and prompted a significant number of complaints to the anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out.
Bentancur subsequently apologized to Son, who accepted his apology.

The FA has charged Bentancur with breaching its rules regarding improper conduct and the use of abusive or insulting language.
The charge is considered an aggravated breach due to its racist nature.
Bentancur has until September 19 to respond to the allegations.
This incident comes on the heels of a similar case involving former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, who was banned and fined for using a racist term in a social media post.
