Tottenham Hotspur saw their two-goal advantage evaporate in a dramatic second-half collapse, as Brighton & Hove Albion staged a remarkable comeback to win 3-2 on Sunday.

Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 25th minute, showcasing his finishing skills with a clinical strike set up by Dominic Solanke.

This marked the Wales forward’s sixth goal in his last six appearances.

Just 12 minutes later, James Maddison extended Spurs’ lead, as his shot slipped through the fingers of Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, leaving Tottenham fans hopeful.

However, the tide turned after halftime when Yankuba Minteh capitalized on a defensive error, firing a close-range shot into the net just three minutes into the second half.

Georginio Rutter then leveled the score in the 58th minute, deftly maneuvering past three Tottenham defenders to finish off a pass from Kaoru Mitoma.

The complete turnaround was finalized in the 66th minute when Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, unmarked in the box, headed in Rutter’s cross to complete Brighton’s stunning comeback.

This defeat marks Tottenham’s third in their last seven league games, raising fresh concerns about manager Ange Postecoglou’s insistence on maintaining an attacking philosophy amidst glaring defensive issues.

In other Premier League action, Chelsea managed to salvage a 1-1 draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest, ending their five-match winning streak.

Chris Wood put Forest ahead early in the second half at Stamford Bridge, but Noni Madueke equalized for the Blues shortly after.

Despite Forest being reduced to ten men when James Ward-Prowse was sent off with 12 minutes remaining, Chelsea failed to secure a victory.

Despite the setback, Chelsea remains in fourth place in the Premier League as they head into the international break, continuing to show promise under manager Enzo Maresca.
