Former Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has received widespread praise for his transformative leadership, which redefined governance and humanitarian activism in Nigeria.
Marking his 70th birthday, Uduaghan was celebrated for his integrity, impactful governance, and deep commitment to the development of Delta State and the Niger Delta region.
In a tribute from the Alema of Warri, Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, the former governor was described as a “peace promoter and bridge builder,” whose administration prioritized peace, security, human capital, and infrastructural development.
The former governor’s tenure from 2007 to 2015 saw significant advancements in the state’s physical and economic landscape.
Notable achievements include the construction of major roads, bridges, and special economic zones, as well as the establishment of industrial clusters that spurred economic growth.

His efforts also led to the construction of the Asaba International Airport and the expansion of the Osubi Airstrip, significantly improving transportation infrastructure.
Uduaghan’s administration was especially commended for promoting women’s participation in politics, advancing the rights and welfare of minors, and launching a wide range of social initiatives.
His free healthcare program for pregnant women and children, along with scholarship schemes for students and microcredit and agricultural programs, left a lasting impact on the lives of many Deltans.
His peace initiatives, particularly in Warri and surrounding areas, were instrumental in restoring calm and supporting Nigeria’s crude oil production, which saw significant growth during his time in office.
Reflecting on Uduaghan’s eight-year tenure, Chief Oritsejolomi hailed it as “glorious and memorable,” crediting the former governor for fostering commercial and economic prosperity, expanding educational opportunities, and promoting entrepreneurship among the citizens.
Uduaghan’s focus on accountability, electricity, housing, and affordable transportation further cemented his legacy as a forward-thinking leader who prioritized sustainable development.
The former governor’s leadership in the health sector, both as Commissioner for Health and governor, was highlighted as a model of effective governance.

He was recognized for constructing and upgrading numerous health centers, securing special rehabilitation funds for hospitals, and promoting industrial peace through enhanced welfare packages for healthcare workers.
Uduaghan’s contributions as Secretary to the State Government under Chief James Ibori’s administration were also noted, where he applied his visionary approach and administrative expertise to steer the state’s affairs with dignity and commitment.
The Warri High Chief concluded his tribute by celebrating Uduaghan’s leadership style, characterized by an open-door policy and participatory management.
“You deserve to be honored for your administrative ingenuity, your work for the people of Delta State, and the example you set for Nigeria,” he stated, adding that Uduaghan’s legacy of integrity, discipline, and visionary leadership serves as a beacon for future generations.
On behalf of his family and the people of Abigborodo, Chief Oritsejolomi expressed his gratitude and best wishes for Uduaghan, praying for his continued health and longevity.
