UK cannabis candy maker supplies NYSC member in govt agency
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 22-year-old National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) member, Arnold Maniru, for importing four kilograms (kg) of drugged candies from the UK.
Its Director Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi said this in a statement made available on Sunday in Abuja.
Babafemi said the corps member, serving with a government agency in Abuja, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 28, following the interception of a consignment at the warehouse of a transport company.
He said that a controlled delivery of the parcel, which contained the candies laced with arizona, a strong variant of cannabis and some liquid, were subsequently carried out.
Also, operatives attached to courier companies in Lagos have intercepted 1.2kg of cannabis, concealed inside locally made cookies going to Dubai, Uniter Arab Emirates (UAE).
Babafemi said that 920grams of cocaine hidden inside synthetic hair heading to Saudi Arabia were also intercepted in Lagos.
“Another 1.08kg cannabis, concealed in spray cans going to Pakistan and 625 grams of methamphetamine, hidden in clothing heading to Australia were also seized, ” he said.
