Update: New APC National Chairman postpones NEC, National Caucus meetings
The new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Kyari, who until the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party on Monday, was APC Deputy National Chairman (North), has postponed the party’s National Caucus meeting scheduled for Tuesday, and the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party scheduled for Wednesday night.
Kyari, however, noted that the postponement is not indefinite, saying that a new date would be announced soon.
The new APC national Chairman, after the NWC meeting where he succeeded former APC National chairman, Abdulahi Adamu, on Monday, declared in a media interaction: “And with this recent developments in the change of leadership, I will like to inform everybody here that the proposed National Caucus meeting slated for Tuesday, the 18th of July 2023 and the National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) slated for Wednesday night is July 2023 are hereby been postponed.
“And this postponement will not be indefinite but a new date will be communicated in the near future.”
Kyari further stated that Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, APC National Publicity Secretary, resigned voluntarily. He added that the reasons for their resignation would be made public in the future.
According to Kyari, “At this point, the individuals have resigned voluntarily and that is what is available at this moment. Reasons for resignations will be made to you in the near future.”
Kyari presided over the APC NWC meeting on Monday as former National chairman, Adamu, was absent.
