Viral Video of military brutality: Army insists investigation is ongoing

The Nigerian Army admits the authority is investigating a video being circulated on the social media, which shows brutality of Army personnel of civilians in the South East.

National Daily gathered that the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sanni Usman, said they were aware of the video being circulated on social media.

The 21st Century information superhighway has liquidated bounds of information curtailment or secrecy of government activities. The Nigerian Army has become a victim of information liquidity in modern society, and has, probably, been receiving serious bash of blackmail over their routine national assignment in the South East, irrespective of some miscalculations or errors.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Usman was gathered to have confirmed on Wednesday the knowledge of the video exposing the Army purported brutality in Abia. “We are aware of certain video being circulated,” he had said, disclosing that the military high command has commenced investigations into the alleged actions.

He maintained that the Army got complaints of the video and investigation has commenced into the matter, promising that the report of findings would be made public.

“…whatever it is, we have had complaints of videos online.

“The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, is investigating it and whatever it is, we will definitely let the public know about the outcome,” Usman was cited to have said.

Meanwhile, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged plot to kill him by the military. This, he said, made him shun the meeting with South-East governors.

In a statement, Kanu alleged that soldiers in Abia State intended to assassinate him on his way to the meeting.
