Attempts by criminal gangs to use the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) located at km 46 along Lagos-Ibadan express way as hiding place after engaging in criminal acts have been foiled by the Ogun State Police Command.
As a result, 236 people consisting of 165 males and 71 females have been arrested by the police in a raid carried out following intelligence reports that some criminals have swooped on the centre dedicated to the worship of God to hide.
Reacting to National Daily inquiry about the fate of those arrested, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest but said that those arrested “have been screened. Some of them have been released while those with questionable means of livelihood will still be under interrogation and will appear in court as soon as we conclude our investigation.”
It was learnt that the police took the decision to raid the Redemption Camp following reports that some criminals use the auditorium of the church as a safe haven after committing crimes.
