14-year-old emerges best tiler, youngest artisan in Nigeria
A 14-year-old girl has swept off three awards of excellence at the just concluded Construction Artisan Award and Skills Exposition held at the indoor sports hall of the Mashood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Fatima Sakibu excelled at tiling, and she emerged overall best youngest artisan.
She learnt the trade from her father a few years ago and also combines it with her education.
Now in her first year in senior secondary school, Fatima said she would continue with tiling, and hoped to become an engineer upon graduation.
The Kano indigene expressed delight clinching the awards. She thanked her parents for their contributions to her life, especially her father who exposed her to tiling skills.
The Artisan Awards and Skills Exposition is organised annually by Occupational Safety and Health Association.
