Holy Anger: Kidnappers snatch 2 kids during service, congregation pursue, rescue, serve justice
Sakiru Famuyiwa and his friend headed for a Celestial Church parish at Ijeja, Ogun, Friday, and snatched two kids. But an enraged congregation used the strength of their number to deal with the criminals.
The incident happened during the Good Friday service yesterday.
According to the Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects “sneaked into the children’s department and “stole” two children” aged two and three.
A member of the church saw the kidnappers as they walked out of the church premises with their quarries.
The member inform, and the entire congregation gave a chase, caught one of them, rescued the kids, and informed the police.
A mob was going to finish the job when the police got the information.
Upon the distress call, DPO of Ibara division, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene where they recued the kidnapper from the mob.
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the anti-kidnapping unit of the State CIID for discreet investigation.
