Lawyer Adegboruwa in EFCC net for leasing forfeited asset
Lagos lawyer and rights activist Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa was nabbed at his Lekki Office Monday afternoon by the EFCC accusing him of obtaining money under false pretence—by knowingly renting out a forfeited asset without due authorisation.
Adegboruwa, another sore critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, was said to have conspired with others to lease out a property at House 105 NICON Town Estate, Lekki, Lagos, to Shelf Drilling Nigeria Ltd. The said asset is still a subject of litigation.
About N61.6 million was swished into Adegboruwa’s Zenith account from where he forked it out to other beneficiaries’ accounts, including churches.

Before now, the lawyer in media interviews and as a TV talking head, has been criticising the EFCC for its incompetence in investigating and prosecuting corruption so much he said he once approached the commission to hold its brief—pro bono.
He has also rapped Buhari for how his government was prosecuting ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki over the $2.1 billion arms purchase scandal.
The commission said Adegboruwa, who is also defence counsel to fugitive Ekpemupolo Government, aka Tompolo, will soon be charged to court.
