2023: 3 former govs, others from north declare intention, Atiku, Tambuwal silent
Following the PDP 94th NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the opposition has zoned its party chairmanship to the north, and leave the presidential ticket up for grabs.
No fewer than three former governors have declared their intention to run for the presidency since then.
The meeting was attended by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar; PDP Governors led by the Chairman and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former and serving governors, ministers as well as federal lawmakers.
Three former governors from the north and a party official announced they were joining the presidential race.
Gombe ex-Gov Ibrahim Dakwambo and two others from the northeast.
Gov Tambuwal and his Bauchi counterpart Bala Mohammed are expected to declare teir intention for the PDP ticket, too.
Atiku who many believe is also gunning for the ticket has yet to make known his intention.
Yemi Akinwonmi, Acting National Chairman, thanked Ugwaunyi and Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri for chairing the Zoning and Convention Planning Committees.
Wali Jibrin, Board of Trustees Chairman, assured that the party leadership will continue to promote unity among members to ensure the PDP returns to power.
