2023 Presidential Race: Reasons Tinubu has the upper hand over Atiku
It is no longer news that both the former governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu, and the former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, have declared their intention to run for the next presidential election in which both of them stand a higher chance of winning their party ticket.
Many politicians have declared their intention to compete on the party ticket with them, but both Tinubu and Atiku seem to be the talk of the nation, which makes many people believe that the next president of the country lies between both of them.
What are the reasons why Tinubu has the upper hand in knocking out Atiku in the coming election?
The first thing that will give Tinubu the upper hand is the sagacity of his party, over the PDP’s Atiku party. The APC, which has the highest number of governors, lawmakers, and local government chairpersons, will be hard to defeat by any other party.
Many of these governors, lawmakers, and local government chairpersons have vowed to support Tinubu, and if they truly work for him in 2023, it would increase Tinubu’s chances of knocking out Atiku in the coming election.
Apart from that, the issue of zoning and how many PDP cabals go against each other is not healthy for Atiku because Atiku has not gained the support of any potential southern leaders as they are all chanting one slogan, which is that power should return to the south, and he may give the advantages to Tinubu, whose many northern leaders have already rallied around him.
Another thing that may give an upper hand to Tinubu is the issue of Ohanaeze, who has already vowed not to support Atiku Abubakar if he continues with his presidential ambitions.
Let’s recall that the South-East people had one of the largest percent of the people that supported Atiku last year, and if they withdrew this time, it may have a negative impact on Atiku’s presidential ambitions.
