2023: Why Akeredolu called Tinubu ‘our capo’
Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has revealed the position of the southwest and the Bola Tinubu factor as the race for the 2023 presidency picks up momentum.
The governor was on Arise TV on Sunday.
Fielding questions surrounding defection ad 2023, te chairman of the southern governors’ forum said he is going nowhere.
“I have said it several times. I’m going nowhere. If I leave APC, I am going back to my chamber,” he said.
About his recent visit alongside Ekiti Gov Kayode Fayemi to APC national leader Bola Tinubu recovering from a knee surgery in London, Akeredolu said it had nothing to do with the2023 presidential race.
“We went to London because It was important for us to go and see for ourselves. How he’s doing. He’s the Capo for us here. By the time he comes, we can make some serious decisions.”
Tinubu has not declared his intention, but speculations are high he is eyeing Aso Rock.
About his support, Akeredolu said whoever the party chooses gets it.
“APC is a party. APC will decide who the candidate will be. For me, whatever APC decides,I will follow,” he said.
