25 die as bus conveying wedding guests crashes
About 25 persons were pronounced dead as a bus conveying wedding guests veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge in northern India on Wednesday.
A top police officer, Ashok Kumar, in India had narrated that the bus was travelling along a treacherous mountain highway in Uttarakhand State when it careened over an edge and plunged at least 500 metres (1,640 feet) with around 45 people onboard. He said that 20 people have been rescued.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet on Wednesday, promised that “all possible assistance” would be given to the survivors.”
He expressed, “in this tragic hour my thoughts are with the bereaved families.”
