5 Reason why you should stop eating eba

Trust me, this is terrible news. For lovers of Eba like me, i guess its high time we found a new obsession. I could wake up at 2:00am, just to pull out a bowl of nicely cooked and well garnished vegetable soup from the freezer, microwave it and support it with steaming hot Eba. In my almighty splendor, i’ll sit by the Tv and watch Netflix as i swallow down huge morsels, supported by a chilled bottle of Pepsi.

Research says, Garri is the reason we are looking like Winnie the Pooh in a crop top, the reason we cant get our jeans over our butt without struggling, the reason we can’t take few steps without sweating, and the reason we get tired easily; So if we really want that slim waist and flat tummy, then we have to lay off eating Eba. Sad, but necessary.

Lets start with the benefits…Garri is a local cereal made from cassava tubers which are peeled, washed and grated or crushed to produce a mash. A 100-gram serving of garri contains 112 calories. 98% of these are from carbs and the rest are from a small amount of protein and fat. This serving also provides fiber, as well as a few vitamins and minerals. The following nutrients are found in 3.5 ounces (100 grams) of boiled cassava:

Calories: 112, Carbs: 27 grams, Fiber: 1 gram, Thiamine: 20% of the RDI, Phosphorus: 5% of the RDI, Calcium: 2% of the RDI, Riboflavin: 2% of the RDI. Boiled cassava root also contains small amounts of iron, vitamin C and Niacin. Overall, the nutrition profile of cassava is unremarkable. While it does provide some vitamins and minerals and also because it is gluten-free, grain-free and nut-free.

FATIGUE: Garri/ Eba taken in excess especially at night can cause fatigue.Fatigue is a term used to describe an overall feeling of tiredness or lack of energy. It isn’t the same as simply feeling drowsy or sleepy. When you’re fatigued, you have no motivation and no energy.

OBESITY: Obesity is generally caused by eating too much and moving too little. If you consume high amounts of energy, particularly fat and sugars, but do not burn off the energy through exercise and physical activity, much of the surplus energy will be stored by the body as fat

People often reach for food for comfort when they feel stressed, and cortisol causes the excess calories to remain around the belly and other areas of the body for later use. Especially when they are consumed at night.

4. EYE DEFECTS: Garri is made from cassava which contains hydrocyanic acid. Cyanide in garri, in large quantity, canleadto serious eye defects. However, proper and thorough processing of the garri should reduce the concentration of the acid to a considerate level.

5. CONSTIPATION: Cyanide also contains Cyanide. This is an organic acid, and where in excess, it can lead to intestinal issues, and can worsen the case of an ulcer patient.
