Escalating tension in southeast, governors meet over killings, destruction
The tension in the southeast has consistently been accelerating, compelling the Southeast Governors to convene an emergency meeting on the platform of the Southeast Governors Forum. The governors met on Monday following the killing of Ahmed Gulak, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.
The governors in a virtual meeting focused on finding solutions to the protracted insecurity crisis in the zone.
The southeast governors gave assurance that they will not leave any stone unturned to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of armed banditry in the southeast.
The governors lamented the killing of Ahmed Gulak by gunmen on Sunday on his way to the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State.
The southeast governors further declared support Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, as well as the security operatives in the search for the killers of the APC stakeholder.
