Stakeholders, colleagues celebrate passport control officer in Lagos
Colleagues, Festac Community in Lagos State and other stakeholders on Wednesday celebrated Mrs Adeola Adesokan, Passport Control Officer of Festac Passport Office of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), for efforts in improving service delivery.
At Adesokan’s send off ceremony, the colleagues, friends and Festac community members described her as a trial blazer.
They said that the administration of Adesokan, a Deputy Controller of Immigration, transformed the passport office.
Adesokan assumed the headship of the passport office in 2020 and was transferred to the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, recently.
Mrs Milka Musa, the Passport Controller, Lagos Passport Command, described Adesokan as a bulldozer, hard worker, brilliant mind and creative personnel.
“Within 12 months, she refurbished the entire structure of Festac Passport Office.
“ She built VIP lounges, attracted stakeholders to the office, fixed electricity, provided comfortable rooms for personnel.
“ Even when she received the clarion call to serve at the service headquarters, she ensured that the servicom unit, where applicants complaints would be treated, was structured.
Construction and re-construction continued unabated until this moment, “ Musa, a Controller of Immigration, said.
She said that Adesokan ensured that officers in the Festac Passport Office were developed through training.
“She rolled out a robust human capital development programme, ensuring professional and global best practices to enhance service delivery, “ Musa said.
According to Musa, Adesokan made her job easy.
“ I find it difficult to release her, she is really a good team leader,” she said.
The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Mr Valentine Buraimoh, described Adesokan as amazing in service delivery.
“She was able to eradicate the bottlenecks Lagos applicants used to experience in Festac Passport Office.
“She has left a splendid workplace, she transformed the entire passport office.
“She will go to higher grounds in justification of her commitment to assignments here,” he said .
A NIS personnel at Festac Passport Office, Mrs Uju Okoro, said that Adesokan was a team player.
Responding, Adesokan thanked NIS personnel at the Festac Passport Office for huge support, and appealed to them to support her successor.
” To our stakeholders, NIS cannot thank you enough – from the host community to sister agencies, the media and corporate organisations.
“ NIS is proud of the synergy and corporate social responsibly.
“This success story will be incomplete without recognising the guardians – outgone Controller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Mohammed Babandede, and the Acting Controller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Idris Jere,” she said.
Adesokan also thanked Musa for support.
