Oyo state govt reiterate committment to delivery of quality infrastructure.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Public Infrastructure and Transport, Prof Daud Sangodoyin, has said the current administration was committed to deliver quality infrastructure projects.
A statement issued by Moses Alao, Special Assistant on Print Media, to the governor, quoted the commissioner as making the assertion on Monday during an inspection of the ongoing construction of Ajia-Airport Road to Amuloko in Ibadan.
On the entourage of the commissioner during the inspection was the quality assurance team of the ministry and site engineers of the contractor handling the project (Peculiar Ultimate Concerns).
The commissioner and his team inspected a spot of the road at Odeyale-Amuloko axis.
Reacting to complaints by some residents to alleged shoddy job done by the contractor at Odeyale -Amuloko axis of the road, Sangodoyin said the fears expressed by the residents had since been taken care of “before the alarm was raised.
“The state government and the contractors had noticed the challenge since October 2021 and had since instructed the contractors to address it”.
He explained that the spot “is a valley and whenever it rains, the convergence of water is always too much and that water is being retained”.
Sangodoyin said the state government had adjusted the design to accommodate the water.
He added that the contractor had been directed to increase the stone base on that axis of the road from 100mm to 120mm and that this was in addition to increasing the hard rock base of the project, among other improvements.
“The contractor will also put a binding course in place after the stone base had been increased,” the commissioner explained.
Sangodoyin equally stated that contrary to fears that the road might be handed over with challenges, “the section of the road is only about 56 per cent completed.
“Residents should be rest assured the government will deliver a quality project.” the commissioner said.
