Police apprehend 4 Kidnappers, murderers In Rivers
The Rivers State Police Command has revealed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers and murderers of a driver in Emohua, a Local Government Area, on the Bayelsa corridor of the East/West Road.
The Command in a statement by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed that the suspects disguised as normal passengers along the Federal Highway to board the vehicle.
The PPRO narrated that on getting to a quiet part of the road in Rumuodogo community, they kidnapped the driver, who was identified as Onyekachi Obioma Chukwuagu, and took him to a destination. The driver’s vehicle with Registration Number GDD 250 MU was left at the roadside.
The police revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, 22nd March 2022.
The police in the statement narrated: “the command upon receipt of the complaint, swiftly mobilized operatives to the scene where they cordoned off the area and commenced an intensive search, resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects, who led operatives to the rest of the gang, and the location of the victim’s corpse.”

The suspects, the police said, admitted that they murdered the driver with a machete for refusing to cooperate with them.
The arrested suspects were identified as Obichi Ngita, age 20, Chisom Honest, aged 20, Young Chitu, age 21, and Omens Woke, age 23.
The Rivers State Police Command assured that the operatives are on the manhunt of other suspects implicated in the crime, as investigations are going on.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, has condoled the family of the deceased, assuring that the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation in line with his commitment to the cause of justice.
