Manchester United had on Monday night presented their newest man, Casemiro to their fans before their remarkable and spirited 2-1 triumph over fierce rivals Liverpool.

The Brazilian who completed a £59.5million move from Real Madrid to Old Trafford this week had after his unveiling watched his new side get the monkey off their back by finally registering a victory in the EPL after they had previously suffered embarrassing 2-1 and 4-0 defeats in their first two games against Brighton and Brentford respectively.

The 30-year-old had watched how his new boss Erik ten Hag dealt with the midfield position by opting to start Scott McTominay alongside Christian Eriksen, with Bruno Fernandes lining up further ahead of them, with Fred only making the bench National Daily can confirm.

Fred had made the final three-man shortlist for the United’s Player of the Year last season and has generally been one of few consistent performers during a difficult time for the club, but the Brazilian’s omission against Liverpool may have raised questions on his future at Old Trafford considering the arrival of his compatriot, Casemiro and the club’s standing interest in Barca midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Meanwhile, Casemiro who shared no doubt about Fred’s talent had however confessed his doubt about his teammate pairing at the midfield even as he will hope to replicate his national team partnership with United’s number 17 man with his belief that his compatriot’s presence will help him settle in to life in Manchester much quicker.

Casemiro, when asked about his countryman, Fred in his first interview, told MUTV: ‘Well, before coming here I spoke to Fred.

And when asked what makes Fred such a good player in his view, the former Real Madrid midfield maestro replied: ‘Well, Fred has a lot of qualities.

‘I think he’s a player that has good movement. He’s very mobile, passes the ball well, he has a good shot on him, he can play with both feet, left or right, he can pass the ball well with either foot. He’s a great player.

‘Again, that’s why he plays for the Brazil and he’s a very important player at this club and I think he’ll help me a great deal as he’s Brazilian. I think he’ll help me a lot at the club and without doubt it’s important for me to have another Brazilian here, too.’
