Is Virgil Van Dijk trying to tell us something? The Southampton defender has been linked with a January exit for months, and now he shows up in a Manchester City shirt!

Though manager Claude Puel has ruled out selling him, the Dutchman has expressed his desire to play at the top level and the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with his signature, as well as Pep Guardiola’s side.

Rather than Van Dijk himself trying to send any messages by wearing the City shirt, however, it looks like the centre-back was on the receiving end of an amusing ‘secret Santa’ gift from one of his team-mates.

Saints captain Jose Fonte posted a picture on Instagram of the whole squad at training in various costumes together, citing “secret Santa”, with a blue-dressed Van Dijk lining up alongside a leprechaun, Luigi and a Ninja Turtle, among others.
