Urhobo Loses Leader in Lagos
The Urhobo Traditional Council of Chiefs, Lagos State has announced the transition of its leader, Dr. Charles Ogodo (JP), the Osur’Urhobo, Lagos.
In a statement signed by Olorogun Peter Onojaike, Prime Minister and OlorogunGodspowerIkpuni, Chairman Information committee respectively, the Osur’Urhobo died on May 26, 2015.
Traditional rites of passage for the Osu will begin on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Lagos and would be concluded on Saturday, October 10, 2015 in Unenurhie, Delta State.
During his lifetime, OsuOgodo held respective positions in different associations. Among them are Chairman, South South Traditional Council of Chiefs and Deputy President, South East, South South United Assembly (SESSUA).
The statement extolled the virtues of the late Osu, saying that he was an urbane ruler who endeared himself to both the South-south and South-east persons in Lagos State.
He worked assiduously for the South-south people of Lagos to have recognition in the governance structure of the state. His philosophy was ‘let the less privileged of the society have a meaningful life.’
