Fayose mocks Ayu over suspension, declares PDP dead horse
Former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, responding to his suspension from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the National Working Committee (NWC) for anti-party activities, mocked the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, declaring the PDP a dead horse that needs resuscitation.
Fayose was of the view that his suspension from the PDP was “the last kick of a dead horse”. The former Ekiti State governor had declared: “Ayu and his cohorts are only entertaining themselves with the purported suspension as their latest comedy skit.”
The former governor further asserted that in a matter of days, the “inglorious” tenure of Ayu as the PDP national chairman will become history and the party will enjoy a new lease of life. He stated that PDP members who stood by the party when Ayu and his cohorts “left it to die” would rescue it and give life back in due course. He declared: “The purported suspension will have no leg to stand.”
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, had in a statement on Thursday declared the suspension of Fayose, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, Prof Dennis Ityavyar, Aslam Aliyu from the PDP for “anti-party activities”; effect from Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State had declared the suspension as “the beginning of the mother of all political wars.”
