Appeal Court upturns tribunal’s judgement, upholds Uba Sani’s victory in Kaduna
The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday upturned the judgement of the Kaduna State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, upholding the victory of Governor Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
A three-member panel of the Appeal Court, in its judgement stated that the election tribunal acted in error by depending on inadmissible evidence to order the conduct of supplementary elections in 22 polling units of four local government areas (LGAs) in the state where the voting exercise was considered inconclusive.

The appeal court emphasized that a key witness called by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the tribunal hearing merely gave hearsay evidence, noting that he was not present when the malpractices he alleged occurred.
The court maintained that the allegations of the said witness relating to deduction of votes, stuffing of ballot boxes, and mutilation of sensitive electoral materials were born out of hearsay.
The court, thereafter, affirmed the victory of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State in the March 18 election.
