Cubana Chief Priest, EFCC to settle out of court
Okechukwu Pascal popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest and the EFCC agreed to settle out of court.
The counsel representing Cubana Chief Priest which consisted of Sir Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, Ayi-Imah Ekpeyong informed the court that they are settling and applied to the EFCC under the EFCC Establishment Act to compound the offenses in the interest of justice.
The EFCC lawyer confirmed that they received the application and are still considering it.
Cubana Chief Priest’s lawyer requested to withdraw two previous applications and asked the court to strike them out, so that both parties can explore the proposed settlement.
The prosecution did not oppose the withdrawal of the defense counsel’s preliminary objection.
Earlier this week, Cubana Chief Priest’s legal team asked the Federal High Court to decline jurisdiction on the Naira abuse charges. This request was made after the court granted him bail of N10 million.
Cubana’s lawyer stated that their pending application challenging the court’s jurisdiction needed to be determined.
The court adjourned to June 5, 2024, for a report on the settlement
