NELFUND directs institutions to upload student data for loan disbursement
NELFUND has mandated all accredited institutions to verify and upload student data onto its newly digitized Student Loan Application System (SLAS). This crucial step aims to streamline loan processing and disbursement
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a directive to all accredited tertiary institutions, instructing them to verify and upload their students’ data onto the newly upgraded Student Loan Application System (SLAS). This move is a critical step in streamlining and accelerating the student loan processing experience for both institutions and applicants.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications for NELFUND, explained that SLAS has now been fully digitized.
This upgrade means all accredited institutions are now required to request access to SLAS to verify and upload student data related to loan applications.
“This is a critical step that ensures the timely processing and disbursement of approved student loans,” Oluwatuyi stated.
She further urged institutions that have not yet onboarded onto the system to send an access request to [email protected] without delay.
Once granted access, institutions will gain the ability to view a real-time dashboard of their students’ loan applications, verify submitted data, and track the status of each application.
Oluwatuyi emphasized the urgency for all institutions to take immediate action in the interest of their students, as verification and data upload by the institutions are mandatory steps before final approval and disbursement can be completed.

She also clarified that if a student’s loan portal status currently shows “Verified,” it indicates that the student application has successfully passed initial checks. However, final approval and disbursement are still subject to confirmation and upload of student data by the respective institution.
“Once this process is completed, your status will be updated to ‘Disbursed’ when the payment of your fees has been processed,” she stressed, reassuring students about the final stage of their application.
