The Ogun State Police Command received the National Centre for the Control of Small and Light Arms (NCCSLA), led by the South West Zonal Director, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha (Rtd).

The pivot of the visit to Ogun State Police Command was to introduce the functions and core duties of NCCSLA to all security agencies, of which the Nigeria Police Force is the lead security on internal security of the State.

In the presentation of the Zonal director, CP Alamutu Abiodun (Rtd), in his advocacy, included that the mission of the center in the Southwest is to commence the mopping up of circulating weapons and noted the center’s presence in six key locations across Nigeria: Maiduguri, Kaduna, Enugu, Calabar, Ogun, and Minna, covering all geopolitical zones.

The NCCSLA was established through an executive order by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to specifically eradicate the uncontrolled importation of small and light arms into Nigeria.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, appreciated the NCCSLA’s efforts and reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to collaborating with the centre to enhance internal security.
