Police arrest two suspects over Abuja bombing

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, on Tuesday in Abuja confirmed that they have arrested two suspects in connection with the October 2 bombings in Nyanya and Kuje, FCT.

He disclosed this at the Conference of Senior Police Officers, adding that the suspects are aged 25 and 27 years respectively and were from Kogi state.
It would be recalled that over 25 people died and over 20 others injured in the twin blasts that shook Abuja to the marrow.
According to Arase, recovered from the suspects included 12 already prepared and prime Home Made Explosives (HME) concealed in 12 Farouz soft drinks cans and 28 pieces of electric detonators.
“The suspects are aiding police investigations into their broad terror network and will be brought to deserve justice,” he said.
The police boss, however, assured that the police would continue to deploy its men and equipment to ensure public safety. He called on the public to cooperate by given needed information that would help track criminals.
While lauding the efforts of the media, the IGP urged them to continue to provide needed support in order to attain the national crime and security vision of the present administration.
Arase also confirmed the arrest of the five suspects of the eight-man gang who kidnapped Chief Olu Falae, said they were arrested at their hideouts in Niger, Ekiti and Ondo states.
Recovered from them included the Bajaj motorcycle used to transport the victim and N823,000 being part of the ransom allegedly received.
He said that the suspects had been taken to Akure were they were being charged to court.
Arase added that the conference becomes very imperative to strengthening the force and reviewing strategy towards sharpening the ability of the police to deal with emerging crimes.
