Abductors of Bayelsa commissioner demand N40m ransom
The abductors of the Commissioner for Local Government in Bayelsa, Mrs Serefina Otazi, have demanded N40 million as ransom for her release, according to a family member.
Mr Endurance Frank told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa on Tuesday that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded the ransom to free their victim.
He said that the family was relieved to hear from Otazi in her kidnappers’ den.
Frank appealed to the kidnappers to free her unconditionally.
Otazi was abducted on Dec. 20 at a gun point in Otuoke on her way to Ewoi community in Ogbia Local Government Area for a funeral.
She had served as a commissioner for women affairs and acting chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area.
