AFCON 2021: Nigeria defeats Egypt 1-0 in Group D opening match
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday defeated the Pharaoh of Egypt in Group D opening match of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Cameroon. The Super Eagles goal came through Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City in the English Premiership League in Britain in the 30th minute of the first half of the game.
The Egyptian star player, Mohammed Salah of Liverpool, England, appeared to be reserving self for the English Premiership team as he appeared to be on holidays all through the match.
The Egyptian team put up a little fight ion the second half but the Super Eagles formation absolved all their play.
The Super Eagles missed several scoring chances.
The Super Eagles now top Group D with three points from one match. The other group members, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea are yet to play their opening match. Nigeria will be playing Sudan and Equatorial Guinea in subsequent Group D matches.
