The Afro Awards, a non-profit event that celebrates humanitarian excellence across various fields, has nominated Dr Allen Onyema, founder and CEO of Air Peace, as well as Oba Dr Moshood Olalekan-Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadan, for the prestigious award in 2023.
Taiwo Oduala, the founder and executive producer of the Afro Awards, highlighted that the awardees are among Africans and Americans who have excelled in their respective fields whilst significantly impacting and transforming the economies of their nations.
Dr. Allen Onyema was cited for his free evacuation philosophy, which helped many stranded Nigerians in countries such as China and South Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the Olubadan of Ibadan was recognised for his exceptional service to Nigerian society as a royal father. Some of the other awardees include the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and rapper Snoop Dogg.
