Gombe lady ‘blasphemes’ on Facebook; youth unleash violence on Bauchi Christians, churches
A riot reportedly broke out in Katangan area of Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi on Saturday following accusation of blasphemy by a social media user.
The lady in question is a government worker originally from Gombe, but married in Warji local government area in Bauchi.
Muslim youths went in search of the woman after Juma’at prayers on Friday.
They however resorted to violence when the search failed.
Properties belonging to Christians in the Katangan area of Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi were destroyed, and a number of Christians, including a pastor of ECWA church, were said to have been injured.
There has been no official explanation by the state or the police command.
The latest violence is coming days after Deborah Samuel was lynched in Sokoto for alleged blasphemy.
