Aregbesola blames “#EndSARS” for Prison attacks

Attacks on prisons around the nation have been linked to the #EndSARS protests, according to Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola.

His media adviser, Sola Fasure, made this announcement in a press release following his visit to the Kirikiri Maximum and Minimum Correctional Facilities in Lagos on Tuesday.

He boasted that no facility had seen a prisoner jailbreak, but he voiced concern that since the #EndSARS protests in October 2020, there had been an increase in outside attacks on correctional facilities.

He declared, “So far, no inmate jailbreak has been successful; we have to put a stop to all of them.

Since the #EndSars protests in October 2020, we have witnessed numerous outsiders storming our prisons and releasing prisoners.

I have now, however, instructed the Controller General of the NCOS to increase his information gathering efforts in order to strengthen and prevent breaches to the Custodial Centers outside the use of force and weapons.
