Arsenal suffers Konsa injury scare as Arteta raises concern after Slavia Prague win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that Ezri Konsa sustained an injury during the Gunners’ 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, raising concerns over his availability for their next fixture.

The England international was forced off in the second half after appearing to suffer a knee problem, prompting Arteta to introduce Cristhian Mosquera as a replacement.

Konsa had started the encounter alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence, but his premature departure could present a fresh defensive concern for Arsenal as they navigate a demanding run of fixtures.

Speaking after the victory in Prague, Arteta suggested that the defender’s heavy workload in recent weeks might have contributed to the problem.

“He is obviously playing a lot; he’s played so many games in the last few weeks,” the Arsenal manager said.

“He had some issues, and we decided to take him off.”

The injury comes at a potentially difficult time for the Premier League side, who have been relying on Konsa’s defensive contributions amid their packed domestic and European schedule.

Arsenal, however, have some defensive options available, with William Saliba returning to fitness and featuring among the substitutes against Slavia Prague.

The extent of Konsa’s injury remains unclear, but his condition could determine whether he will be available for Arsenal’s next Premier League encounter against Hull City on Saturday.

Arteta will be hoping the injury is not serious, as the Gunners seek to maintain their momentum following their hard-fought Champions League victory.
