The Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Ibrahim Musa, was kidnapped at the weekend by bandits.
The bandits were said to have kidnapped the Permanent Secretary and his son at his residence on Friday night in Zungeru, Wushishi Local Government Area (LGA), Niger State.
The bandits were also said to have broken the gate to the residence before kidnapping Musa who was said to be taking a rest after returning from wedding.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mary Barje, had in a statement on Saturday, acknowledged the kidnapping of the permanent secretary by bandits.
Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State, on Saturday lamented that the kidnapping of the permanent secretary is evil and inhuman.
The governor bemoaned the kidnapping incidence by bandits in Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas; where many locals have also been killed, houses burnt.
Governor Bello, therefore, cried out for urgent and total overhaul of the strategy and security apparatus, as the existing system has failed to contain the activities of the bandits.
The governor observed that the security operatives have the capability to curtail the activities of the bandits but solicit more support from residents on useful and timely information.
